The Quick 3

Ask these quick questions to hit the major themes of the film.

1. Conflict Resolution. When you are angry at someone, how do you usually try to solve the conflict? How can you live at peace with everyone instead of taking revenge?

  • Godzilla and Kong did not get along. Romans 12:17-19a says, "Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge."

2. Friendship. Who are some of your best friends? What makes them such good friends?

  • Jia and Kong have a special friendship. They communicate with one another and empathize with how one another are feeling. There is lots of wisdom in God's Word about what makes a good friend. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, "So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing."

3. Reconciliation. What does it mean to be reconciled to God? Because God forgave you, how can you forgive other people?

  • Kong defeats Mechgodzilla, after coming to Godzilla's rescue. Kong and Godzilla set aside their differences to fight a common enemy. They were reconciled to one another, no longer deciding to fight one another. Ephesians 4:32 says, "Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you." Because of Jesus, we have been reconciled to God again. Our sin separated us from God but, because Jesus paid for our sins, we have been reconciled to God and are now in His family forever.

After The Movie Discussion Guide

1. Godzilla and Kong did not get along. Romans 12:17-19a says, "Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge." When you are angry at someone, how do you usually try to solve the conflict? How can you live at peace with everyone instead of taking revenge?

2. Kong was called a "King". In Revelation 19:16, Jesus is described as a King: "On his robe at his thigh was written this title: King of all kings and Lord of all lords." Being King, Jesus is in charge and He reigns in power over everyone and everything. What do you think it means for Jesus to be King? What makes a King different from those who are not the King?

3. Jia and Kong have a special friendship. They communicate with one another and empathize with how one another are feeling. There is lots of wisdom in God's Word about what makes a good friend. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, "So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing." 4. Madison and her friends showed great bravery in doing everything they could to stop the destruction. They fought against the selfish actions of Apex Cybernetics. Nathan points out that Jia is a brave girl. Bravery is having the courage to make good choices, even when you’re afraid. When was a time that you showed a great amount of bravery? What motivated you to do the right thing, even though you were scared?

5. Godzilla showed mercy on Kong, not destroying him when he had the chance. Mercy is not giving the punishment someone deserves. As a result, Kong ended up saving Godzilla's life when Mechagodzilla was about to defeat him. How can you show mercy to those around you? How difficult would that be?
